Applications
Roots blower booster vacuum pumps like the RUVAC WAU series are used to increase pumping throughput in the 1–100 mbar pressure range, where a standard rotary vane or oil-sealed backing pump alone would be too slow. They work by placing the Roots blower between the process chamber and the backing pump — the blower moves large volumes of gas rapidly while the backing pump maintains the low outlet pressure needed to sustain operation. The WAU150 is a mid-size unit suited for industrial vacuum processes including thin-film coating and physical vapor deposition (PVD), semiconductor diffusion and etch equipment, vacuum furnaces, freeze dryers, and other applications requiring high throughput in the rough-to-medium vacuum range. Leybold-Heraeus (now Leybold GmbH) was a leading German-American manufacturer of vacuum equipment headquartered in Cologne, Germany, with US production operations in Export, Pennsylvania. The RUVAC WAU series dates from the 1970s through 1990s and remains in widespread use in legacy industrial and research vacuum systems.
This Leybold Heraeus RUVAC WAU150 Roots Blower Booster Vacuum Pump is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. The unit looks to be in reasonable cosmetic shape — the pump body and motor appear intact with paint wear and surface scuffing consistent with age and prior industrial use. Due to the age of the unit, we are not able to confirm functionality and it has not been tested at our facility.
