Description

Leybold-Heraeus D30A Trivac Dual Stage Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump 26.8 CFM For Parts

The Leybold-Heraeus D30A Trivac is a dual-stage rotary vane vacuum pump designed for high-throughput rough and medium vacuum applications. It is paired with a General Electric three-phase AC motor and mounted on a common base frame. This unit does not power on — the motor has an unknown fault and is being sold as-is for parts or repair. When the fan blades are rotated by hand, the motor shaft turns freely and the pump body generates a vacuum, indicating the pump mechanism itself appears mechanically intact.

Applications

The Leybold Trivac D30A is a workhorse dual-stage rotary vane pump widely used in semiconductor fabrication, thin-film deposition (PVD/CVD), electron microscopy, leak detection, and general industrial vacuum systems. Dual-stage rotary vane pumps of this class are capable of achieving ultimate pressures in the 10⁻³ to 10⁻⁴ mbar range, making them suitable as backing pumps for turbomolecular or diffusion pumps as well as standalone roughing pumps. The Trivac D series was a long-running Leybold-Heraeus product line — later continued under the Leybold brand after the Heraeus vacuum products division was reorganized — and remains a recognized, widely serviced design in research labs, industrial vacuum processes, and semiconductor tool maintenance environments. Replacement motors, rebuild kits, and service documentation for the D30A are available through vacuum equipment service specialists, making this as-is unit potentially restorable.

Condition: For Parts or Not Working
This Leybold-Heraeus D30A Trivac dual-stage rotary vane vacuum pump is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. It does not power on when electricity is applied — the motor has an unknown fault. Notably, when the fan blades are rotated by hand the motor shaft turns freely, and the pump body generates a vacuum, suggesting the pump mechanism itself is intact. The source of the motor failure has not been diagnosed. The unit shows typical wear for its age — the white painted housing has some scuffs and discoloration consistent with lab or industrial use. Both the KF/NW inlet port assembly and the bellows flex connector are present and appear undamaged. This item is heavy (approximately 173 lbs) and will require freight shipping.
