The Leybold D60AC is a two-stage rotary vane vacuum pump from Leybold's TRIVAC series — a long-running line of industrial and laboratory vacuum pumps built for demanding, continuous-duty applications. This unit powered on and produced a strong vacuum during our brief test. It currently has no oil and will need to be filled before further operation. A rebuild kit is recommended to return the pump to full manufacturer specifications.

Applications

The Leybold TRIVAC D-series rotary vane vacuum pumps are widely used as backing or roughing pumps in semiconductor processing, thin-film coating (PVD/CVD), R&D vacuum systems, mass spectrometry, freeze drying, and general industrial vacuum applications. The TRIVAC D60AC's PFPE fill makes it particularly suited for processes involving aggressive or corrosive gases — such as plasma etch, chemical vapor deposition, and other chemically demanding semiconductor or industrial processes — where a standard hydrocarbon oil would degrade. The TRIVAC series has been a staple of laboratory and industrial vacuum systems since the 1970s and remains in widespread use today. Two-stage rotary vane pumps like this one are capable of reaching rough/medium vacuum levels (typically into the low mTorr range) and serve as the primary backing pump in diffusion pump or turbomolecular pump systems that require deeper vacuum. This unit's dual-voltage, dual-frequency motor also makes it usable with both North American (60Hz) and international (50Hz) power systems.
