Applications
The Trivac E series is Leybold's compact, single-phase rotary vane pump line designed for benchtop and small-system vacuum applications. The D2.5E is widely used as a roughing pump and backing pump in laboratory settings including electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, vacuum coating, freeze-drying, and analytical instrumentation. Its two-stage design allows it to reach pressures in the 10⁻³ mbar range without a Roots booster, making it a versatile standalone rough-vacuum source. These pumps are also common in academic research labs, semiconductor process development, and OEM integration into vacuum systems where a compact, single-phase pump is required. The Trivac E line was manufactured in Germany by Leybold Vakuum GmbH and has been a long-standing workhorse in European and global lab environments from the 1990s onward. An oil level check and oil change are always recommended when returning an oil-sealed rotary vane pump to service.
This Leybold D2.5E Trivac E two-stage rotary vane vacuum pump has been powered on and tested at our facility and is in good working order. As with any oil-sealed rotary vane pump returning to service, an oil level check and oil change are recommended before use. The pump shows normal wear consistent with used lab equipment.
