The Kinney KDH-130 is a two-stage oil-sealed rotary piston high vacuum pump manufactured by GS Kinney Vacuum (a unit of General Signal) in Canton, Massachusetts. The KDH series uses a compound two-stage rotary piston design to achieve high-vacuum levels suitable for demanding industrial processes. This unit includes the integral cylindrical oil mist separator/reservoir mounted on top of the pump body, and both the suction and discharge flanged ports are present.

Applications

The Kinney KDH series two-stage rotary piston pumps are industrial high-vacuum pumps used as primary (roughing) or backing pumps in a wide range of vacuum applications. They were commonly found as the backbone vacuum source in vacuum furnaces, metallurgical heat-treatment systems, vacuum coating and physical vapor deposition (PVD) chambers, freeze-drying systems, and chemical process equipment requiring sustained high vacuum. The KDH-130's ~130 CFM displacement makes it suited for evacuating large chambers quickly before switching to a diffusion pump or turbomolecular pump for ultra-high vacuum. Kinney Vacuum, later operating as a unit of General Signal, was one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of industrial vacuum equipment from the mid-20th century through the 1990s, and their pumps remain in service today in facilities that maintain legacy vacuum systems. Rebuilt units and replacement parts (seals, vanes, bearings) are still available through vacuum equipment service companies.

This Kinney KDH-130 High Vacuum Pump is being sold as-is for parts or repair. The photos show considerable cosmetic wear throughout: heavy surface rust on the suction flange face and bore, significant paint chipping and peeling across the pump body and casings, and rust at several fittings. The pump body and oil separator appear structurally intact with no obvious cracks or broken castings visible. The unit has not been tested or run at our facility, and no functionality is guaranteed.
