Applications

The Key Tronic KB101 was designed for IBM PC AT and AT-compatible desktop computers of the mid-to-late 1980s — the generation of systems using Intel 286 and early 386 processors. Key Tronic was one of the leading independent keyboard manufacturers of that era, producing keyboards for both IBM-compatible clone builders and end users who wanted an upgrade from the bundled OEM keyboard. The 5-pin DIN AT interface was the standard PC keyboard connection before the PS/2 mini-DIN connector took over in the early 1990s. Today, KB101 keyboards are sought by vintage computing enthusiasts and collectors restoring period-accurate IBM PC AT, XT, and compatible systems. A 5-pin DIN to PS/2 passive adapter (not included) can allow use on some PS/2-era systems as well.

Condition: Used
This Key Tronic KB101 Professional Series AT keyboard is in used condition. The keycaps show moderate yellowing typical of aged ABS plastic from this era — this is normal cosmetic aging and does not affect function. The keyboard housing is less yellowed and in good cosmetic shape overall. The coiled AT cable and 5-pin DIN connector appear intact. The keyboard has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it came from a working environment where it was previously in use.
