Applications

The Kensington Turbo Mouse ADB was one of the most popular third-party input devices for Apple Macintosh computers during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Apple Desktop Bus was Apple's proprietary low-speed serial bus for keyboards, mice, and other peripherals, introduced with the Apple IIGS in 1986 and used across the entire Macintosh line through the mid-1990s until it was phased out in favor of USB beginning with the iMac G3 in 1998. The Turbo Mouse was known for its large, comfortable ball and wide buttons — a significant ergonomic improvement over Apple's own hockey-puck-style input devices of the era. These trackballs remain sought after by vintage Mac collectors and enthusiasts maintaining working classic Mac systems, as well as users who prefer trackball input for ergonomic reasons. Compatible ADB Macs include the Mac Plus, Mac SE and SE/30, Mac Classic and Classic II, LC and LC II/III, Quadra, and Centris lines, as well as early ADB-equipped PowerMac models.
