Applications
The RM-G800U was part of JVC's Edit-Desk product line, a family of professional and prosumer S-VHS and VHS editing systems popular in broadcast, cable access, corporate video, and educational production facilities during the late 1980s and 1990s. In a typical Edit-Desk setup, the RM-G800U sits between a player deck and a recorder deck, letting an editor set precise in and out points using SMPTE timecode and then execute automatic assemble or insert edits. The GPI (General Purpose Interface) ports allowed it to trigger or synchronize with external equipment such as character generators or switchers. Systems like this were standard tools in linear video post-production before non-linear editing on computers became dominant in the mid-to-late 1990s. Today these controllers are sought by users maintaining legacy JVC Edit-Desk VTR systems for format preservation, tape transfer, and archival work.
This JVC RM-G800U Editing Control Unit is in used condition. The unit itself shows normal wear for its age — the front panel, buttons, and jog/shuttle dial appear intact and complete. One of the 12-pin connector housings on the included cables is coming apart, as shown in the photos. The cables are included and this damage is limited to the connector housing. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
