The Iomega Zip 100 Z100S2 is an external removable-disk drive that connects via a 25-pin SCSI (DB25) interface. It reads and writes 100 MB Zip disks, providing far greater capacity than standard floppy disks while using the same plug-in disk format. Applications
The Iomega Zip drive was introduced in 1994 and quickly became the dominant removable storage medium of the mid-to-late 1990s. At 100 MB per disk — roughly 70 times the capacity of a standard 1.44 MB floppy — it was widely used for transferring large files, backing up important data, and distributing desktop publishing and graphics work between studios and service bureaus. The SCSI version (Z100S2) was the interface of choice for Macintosh users and high-end PC workstations of that era, both of which commonly shipped with or supported external SCSI chains. Today, Zip drives remain relevant for accessing legacy Zip disk archives, recovering data from older removable media collections, and connecting to vintage Macintosh and PC SCSI systems. The dual DB25 SCSI ports allow it to be daisy-chained with other SCSI devices on the same bus.
This Iomega Zip 100 Z100S2 External SCSI Drive has been visually inspected and is in good used condition. It shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with prior use — the purple housing has light scuffing but is structurally sound. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The unit ships with the AC adapter and an external SCSI data cable; no software is included (drivers are available from Iomega). Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
