Iomega 03101D01 ZIP 250 Drive Z250ATAPI 250MB Internal

The Iomega ZIP 250 is a removable magnetic storage drive that provided high-capacity backup and data transfer in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This is the Z250ATAPI internal model, which connects via a standard IDE/ATAPI controller on a Pentium-era motherboard. The drive reads and writes 250MB ZIP cartridges, a proprietary removable media format that was popular before USB flash drives and external hard drives became the standard.

Applications

The ZIP 250 was widely used in business and home offices throughout the late 1990s and 2000s for backing up documents, photos, and project files. Data centers and IT departments used ZIP drives as a transport and archival medium before the shift to networked storage and optical media. Today, ZIP drives are valued by retro-computing enthusiasts and collectors restoring legacy systems, as well as by anyone needing to read data from ZIP cartridges archived from that era. This internal ATAPI model is ideal for PC builds targeting that period or for retrieving archived data from ZIP media on period-appropriate hardware.
