Description

Intel Pentium 200MHz MMX Processor BP80502200 SU114 Socket 7 CPU

The Intel Pentium 200MHz MMX (BP80502200) is a Socket 7 processor running at 200MHz on a 66MHz front-side bus. It carries the SU114/VSS stepping and an ICOMP 2 rating of 142. The MMX instruction set, introduced with this processor generation, added 57 new SIMD instructions targeted at multimedia and signal-processing workloads — a significant update to the original P5 Pentium architecture.

Applications

The Pentium MMX 200 was Intel's top-of-the-line Socket 7 desktop processor when it launched in early 1997, and it remains the fastest standard-voltage chip the Socket 7 platform officially supports. It is still actively sought for restoring and upgrading mid-1990s Socket 7 systems — particularly boards built around the Intel 430HX, 430VX, 430TX, and compatible VIA/SiS chipsets. Collectors and vintage PC enthusiasts use it to bring period-correct machines to their maximum stock performance. It also fits a range of Socket 7 industrial single-board computers and embedded platforms from the same era that accept MMX-grade processors. Because the MMX Pentium requires split voltage (3.3V I/O, 2.8V core), the host board must have a voltage regulator module (VRM) or built-in voltage regulation supporting the MMX specification — a point worth confirming before installation.
