Applications

The Infinity Kappa 5.1 Series II was designed for two-channel stereo hi-fi listening and home theater use as front or surround bookshelf speakers. The Kappa series was produced from the mid-1990s into the 2000s and was targeted at enthusiast-level listeners who wanted a step up from entry-level speakers. Infinity's EMIT-R tweeter — a planar magnetic / electromagnetic induction design — was a defining feature of the Kappa line, intended to deliver smoother high-frequency response compared to conventional dome tweeters of the era. These speakers work well on dedicated speaker stands or bookshelves with a stereo integrated amplifier or AV receiver; the bass reflex port is rear-firing, so a few inches of clearance from the back wall is recommended. They remain a popular choice for vintage hi-fi enthusiasts and are compatible with any standard stereo or home theater amplifier.
