Description
IEC MB Micro Hematocrit Centrifuge Damon/IEC 11500 RPM 24-Tube 115V Cat 275
The IEC MB Micro Hematocrit Centrifuge is a benchtop clinical laboratory centrifuge manufactured by International Equipment Company (IEC), sold under the Damon/IEC Division name. It is designed specifically for micro hematocrit determination — spinning capillary tubes at high speed to separate blood components and measure packed cell volume (PCV/hematocrit). The unit features a 15-minute timer dial, an electronic motor braking system, and a safety lid latch that holds the lid closed during operation.

Applications
The IEC MB Micro Hematocrit Centrifuge is used in clinical and research laboratories to determine hematocrit (packed cell volume) from small blood samples collected in heparinized capillary tubes. The technique involves loading filled capillary tubes into the numbered rotor slots, centrifuging at high speed to pack red blood cells to one end, and reading the resulting PCV percentage against a hematocrit chart. This type of centrifuge is a standard instrument in hematology labs, physician office labs, veterinary clinics, blood banks, and research facilities where rapid hematocrit determinations are needed. The IEC MB dates from the 1970s–1980s era of Damon/IEC Division production, when IEC was a leading U.S. manufacturer of laboratory centrifuges based in Needham Heights, Massachusetts. Despite its age, the micro hematocrit method remains in widespread use today, and replacement rotors and capillary tubes for IEC MB-compatible instruments are still commercially available.
This IEC MB Micro Hematocrit Centrifuge by Damon/IEC Division has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The gray hammertone housing shows light surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with laboratory use, but there is no cracking, denting, or significant damage visible. The black dome lid, front control panel, TIMER dial, and BRAKE button all appear intact. The aluminum 24-slot rotor (Cat. No. 275) is included and looks clean with no visible damage to the numbered capillary slots. A capillary tube holder tool with chain is also included. The power cord is present and intact. This unit was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
