Description
IBM MWave Objix 28.8 Kbps ISA Modem Card Windows 95 QuickLink Fax Data Voice
The IBM MWave Objix 28.8 is an ISA internal modem card designed for Windows 95 PCs, based on IBM's MWave DSP (Digital Signal Processor) architecture. Rather than using a dedicated hardware modem chipset, the MWave platform offloaded modem processing to a programmable DSP, allowing the card to handle voice, fax, and data functions in a single ISA expansion card. It supports a maximum data rate of 28.8 Kbps and includes QuickLink Message Center software for fax, data, and voice messaging management.

Applications
The IBM MWave modem card dates from the mid-1990s, the era when 28.8 Kbps was the mainstream dial-up standard and ISA slots were still the dominant expansion bus in desktop PCs. MWave was IBM's proprietary DSP modem platform, introduced in the early 1990s and used across IBM's Aptiva and PS/ValuePoint desktop lines. The architecture was notable because the same DSP could be reprogrammed to handle different signal-processing tasks — modem, speakerphone, answering machine — depending on the software loaded. The QuickLink Message Center software bundled with this card provided a unified interface for fax sending and receiving, data connectivity, and voice messaging under Windows 95. Today these cards are primarily sought by collectors restoring IBM Aptiva or compatible mid-1990s systems to original specification, as well as retrocomputing enthusiasts running period-accurate Windows 95 builds that require ISA modem hardware.
This IBM MWave Objix 28.8 Kbps ISA Modem Card is new and unused. It is being sold as open box, meaning it is in new, uninstalled condition but may no longer be in its original retail packaging. The card itself shows no signs of use. The QuickLink Message Center floppy disks, installation guide, bracket, and phone cable are all included as shown in the photos. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
