Description
IBM DB72 Male to Male SCSI Cable 72-Pin High-Density Ultra SCSI Device Cable
This is a DB72 male-to-male SCSI cable featuring the 72-pin high-density connector format used on IBM storage peripherals and servers. Both ends terminate in the same high-density 72-pin (DB72) male connector, making it a device-to-device or drive-to-controller style cable. The cable jacket is dark and flexible, and the connectors include the characteristic metal shroud with latch/thumb-screw retention hardware typical of IBM SCSI cabling from this era.

Applications
The 72-pin high-density SCSI connector (sometimes called DB72 or VHDC-72) was widely used in IBM midrange servers and storage subsystems, including IBM AS/400, RS/6000, and various IBM SCSI disk arrays and tape libraries produced from the late 1980s through the 2000s. Wide SCSI and Ultra SCSI implementations using this connector supported bus widths up to 16 bits and transfer rates up to 40 MB/s, making them the preferred interconnect for high-throughput storage in IBM commercial and enterprise environments. These cables remain in demand for maintaining legacy IBM storage systems, replacing aging or damaged cables in IBM server rooms still running older workloads, or for collectors restoring vintage IBM equipment.
This IBM DB72 male-to-male SCSI cable has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment. The cable jacket is dark and intact; both 72-pin high-density connectors show normal wear consistent with regular use, with no bent or missing pins visible in the photos. The cable shows light surface soiling along the jacket. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
