Description
IBM Model F 6110346 Clicky Mechanical Keyboard 5-Pin DIN AT F4504 1985
The IBM Model F is one of the most celebrated mechanical keyboards ever produced, manufactured by IBM for its PC/AT line of computers. This example carries part number 6110346 (ID No. F4504, EC No. 528309A) and is dated June 18, 1985 — placing it squarely in the early IBM AT era. It uses IBM's legendary buckling-spring switch mechanism, which produces a crisp tactile bump and audible click on every keystroke, and is renowned for its exceptional durability and typing feel. The keyboard connects via a 5-pin DIN plug on a coiled cable, compatible with IBM AT-standard keyboard ports.

Applications
The IBM Model F keyboard was produced from 1981 through the mid-1980s and was the standard input device bundled with the IBM PC/XT and IBM PC/AT (5150, 5160, and 5170 series). It also accompanied IBM's 3270 PC and various workstation terminals of the period. The 5-pin DIN connector is compatible with IBM AT-standard keyboard ports found on IBM-compatible PCs of the era and can be adapted to modern PS/2 or USB interfaces with a passive or active adapter. Today the Model F is highly sought after by mechanical keyboard enthusiasts, collectors, and vintage computing hobbyists for its buckling-spring action, which many consider the gold standard of keyboard feel. It is also used by IBM and IBM-compatible legacy system restorers who need an original period-correct input device. This particular unit dates from the height of IBM's PC/AT production in mid-1985.
This IBM Model F 6110346 mechanical keyboard has not been powered up or tested at our facility. It was pulled from storage and has not been connected to a system to verify functionality. The keyboard appears to be in good cosmetic condition overall — keycaps are intact and legends are clearly legible with no visible breakage. The coiled 5-pin DIN cable is present and attached. Normal age-related yellowing may be present on the case, as is typical on beige plastics from this era. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
