Description

IBM ThinkPad Dock 263120U Series A X T Docking Station Options by IBM

The IBM ThinkPad Dock 263120U is a full docking station for IBM ThinkPad laptops in the Series A, X, and T families (all models except the A21E). Sold under IBM's "Options by IBM" line, this dock expands the ThinkPad's connectivity by providing a fixed desktop interface — allowing the laptop to connect to monitors, peripherals, and network equipment without plugging and unplugging individual cables each time. This unit is new and appears to be in its original sealed box, manufactured in Japan in July 2002.

Applications

IBM ThinkPad docking stations from the early 2000s were standard desktop-integration accessories for enterprise ThinkPad users. By sliding the laptop into the dock, users gained access to additional ports — typically including PS/2 keyboard and mouse, serial, parallel, video-out, Ethernet, USB, and audio connections — transforming a portable notebook into a full desktop workstation. The Series A, X, and T ThinkPads for which this dock is designed were IBM's workhorse business laptops of the 2001–2003 era: rugged, widely deployed in corporate environments, and still maintained today by organizations running legacy IBM software or hardware. Replacement and new-old-stock docking stations for these machines remain sought after for legacy system upkeep and collector use.
