Applications

The IBM 3174 Establishment Controller was IBM's primary cluster controller for connecting 3270-family terminals and workstations to IBM mainframe systems during the late 1980s and early 1990s. It served as the communication hub between dumb terminals and the mainframe host, supporting both local and remote configurations via SNA (Systems Network Architecture). The DC-type 3174 required dedicated internal cooling to maintain reliable operation across its card cage and power subsystems. Replacement cooling fans like the 25F7206 are sought today by organizations still operating legacy 3174-based mainframe terminal networks, as well as collectors and technicians restoring or maintaining vintage IBM SNA infrastructure. The 3174 family also saw use in IBM AS/400 and S/370 environments as a downstream cluster controller.

Condition: Used
This IBM 25F7206 DC cooling fan assembly for the IBM 3174 Controller has been inspected and shows surface rust on the wire guard cage, which is visible in the photos. The fan motor and chassis appear intact. The 4-pin red power connector is present and shows no obvious damage. This part was manufactured in October 1989 per the date stamp on the chassis. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
