Applications

IBM's SSA (Serial Storage Architecture) was a high-speed serial loop storage interface developed in the 1990s as an alternative to parallel SCSI for enterprise storage. SSA offered loop-based hot-swap capability and was used primarily in IBM midrange and server storage arrays, including the IBM 7133 SSA Disk Subsystem, the IBM 9337 Disk Array, and IBM AS/400 (iSeries) attached storage enclosures.
