Applications

The HP Media Center PC m7260n was part of HP's mid-2000s push to bring the Windows XP Media Center Edition experience into the living room. The Pentium D 830 is a first-generation dual-core desktop processor built on Intel's 90nm Smithfield architecture, released in 2005. At the time, it represented HP's entry into dual-core consumer Media Center territory, pairing the CPU with a dedicated hardware PVR encoder — a design that offloaded video recording from the CPU to dedicated silicon, enabling smooth simultaneous record-and-playback. The ATI Radeon X300 SE PCIe graphics card supports TV output for connecting to a television directly. Systems like the m7260n were commonly used as DVR replacements, home theater PCs (HTPCs), or family all-purpose desktops. Today these systems are sought by collectors of early-2000s Windows XP-era hardware, retro gaming enthusiasts, and hobbyists running legacy software or period-correct operating systems. The LightScribe optical drive allows disc labeling directly from the drive using a supported disc and software.
