Applications

The HP Deskjet 3820 was introduced in the early 2000s as an entry-level to mid-range home and home-office inkjet printer. It prints everyday documents as well as color photos and graphics, and its dual USB/parallel connectivity made it compatible with both newer USB-equipped PCs and older systems still using parallel printer ports — a useful feature at the time Windows XP was the dominant desktop OS. Today these printers are primarily sought by users maintaining older Windows XP or 98/ME systems where a parallel-port printer is still needed, or by those looking for a simple, low-cost color inkjet for light-duty printing. Driver support under modern Windows versions is limited, so buyers running Windows 10 or 11 should verify driver availability before purchasing.
