Applications

The HP OfficeJet G series was designed for small office and home office (SOHO) environments needing an all-in-one document solution without separate devices for each function. The G85xi, introduced around 2000–2001, connects to a host PC via USB or parallel port, making it compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP-era systems as well as legacy parallel-port setups. The parallel interface in particular made it useful in offices still running older PCs or print servers. These units are still sought after for legacy parallel-port environments, parts sourcing, or small-scale office use where a compact, low-cost multifunction inkjet is needed.
