Applications

The HP DeskJet 940C is a late-1990s/early-2000s desktop inkjet printer from HP's popular DeskJet line, which was a mainstay of home and small-office printing throughout that era. It uses HP's two-cartridge color inkjet system (one black, one tri-color) and connects to a host PC via parallel port or USB — the USB interface being a newer addition HP introduced to the DeskJet line around this generation. Printers of this type are commonly sought for use with legacy Windows systems, for light document and photo printing in home offices, and by collectors of early 2000s computing hardware. The DeskJet 940C accepts standard HP 45 (black) and HP 78 (color) ink cartridges, which remain widely available. Compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP natively, and usable with later Windows versions via generic or third-party drivers.
