Applications
The HP DeskJet 820Cse was aimed at home office and small business users who needed affordable color printing in the Windows 95/98 era. It connected to a PC via a standard parallel (LPT) port, which was the dominant printer interface before USB became widespread. Printers of this generation are occasionally sought for use with legacy Windows systems, retro computing setups, or parallel-port-equipped PCs that predate USB printer support. The 820 family also sees use as a low-cost replacement printer in environments that still run older Windows workstations and have a supply of compatible HP 26 (black) and HP 25 (color) ink cartridges.
This HP DeskJet 820Cse (C4568A) color inkjet printer has been powered on and confirmed operational — photos show the green power LED illuminated and a Windows XP Printer Test Page successfully printing, demonstrating the print mechanism is working. The printer is in good used condition with cosmetic wear consistent with its age (manufactured January 1997). The beige housing shows light yellowing and minor surface scuffs typical of older desktop equipment. No ink cartridges, parallel cable, or software are included.
