The HP 9000 Series 300 is a desktop computer chassis from Hewlett-Packard's 9000 line of workstations and scientific computing systems. The 98561X chassis was part of HP's mid-1980s to early-1990s 9000/300 series, which used the Motorola 68000-family processors and ran HP-UX or HP Basic. This unit powers on and the indicator LED illuminates, but has not been tested further and is sold strictly as-is for parts or repair.

Applications
The HP 9000 Series 300 was HP's line of 68000-based desktop workstations and scientific computers produced through the 1980s and into the early 1990s. These systems were widely used in scientific research, engineering, and industrial automation environments, running HP-UX (HP's Unix variant), HP Basic, and various technical computing applications. The 9000/300 series connected to HP peripherals and instruments via the HP-IB (IEEE-488/GPIB) bus, making them a central controller in many laboratory and test-automation setups of the era. The 512A interface card provided additional I/O connectivity for interfacing with external instruments and HP peripherals. Today, these machines are sought by collectors of vintage HP computing equipment, retrocomputing enthusiasts, and those maintaining or restoring period-correct HP laboratory systems.
This HP 9000 Series 300 98561X computer chassis powers on and lights up (green LED illuminates), but we were unable to test it further at our facility. It is being sold strictly as-is for parts or repair, with no guarantee of full functionality. The chassis includes the HP 512A interface card (PTI-MLC-O, B-2535-40, 2537-1457) installed. The exterior shows surface discoloration and wear consistent with age — notably some paint flaking/soiling visible on the upper front corners and the front badge area, as seen in the photos.
