Applications

The HP 59303A was part of Hewlett-Packard's 59300 series of HP-IB peripheral modules, introduced in the 1970s and 1980s to extend the capability of HP-IB (IEEE-488 / GPIB) automated test systems. In an HP-IB setup, a controller — typically an HP desktop computer or instrument controller — would send digital commands over the bus, and the 59303A would convert those digital values into precise analog output voltages. This made it possible to drive analog devices, set reference levels, or generate calibrated voltage stimuli from within a fully automated test sequence.
