Description

Hotronic AE61 Time Base Corrector TBC 1U Rackmount Broadcast Video Proc Amp

The Hotronic AE61 is a 1U rackmount Time Base Corrector (TBC) with integrated processing amplifier (proc amp) designed for professional broadcast and post-production video applications. Time base correctors synchronize and stabilize the timing of incoming video signals, correcting the horizontal and vertical timing errors introduced by VTRs, cameras, and other analog video sources so the signal can be cleanly routed, switched, or recorded. The AE61 combines TBC and proc amp functions in a single rack space, allowing operators to correct timing and adjust video levels — including chroma, hue, brightness, and contrast — in one unit.

Applications

Time base correctors like the Hotronic AE61 were standard equipment in broadcast studios, cable headends, video duplication facilities, and post-production suites throughout the 1980s and 1990s. They are used to stabilize signals from VHS, S-VHS, Betacam, U-matic, and other analog VTRs, making them compatible with broadcast-standard sync for routing, mixing, or re-recording. The integrated proc amp extends the unit's usefulness for signal correction — adjusting levels on the fly during tape playback or live switching. While analog broadcast infrastructure has largely transitioned to digital, these units remain in use at facilities still working with legacy analog tape formats, in film and video archiving operations, and among collectors and enthusiasts transferring archival tape material to digital formats.

Condition: Used
This Hotronic AE61 Time Base Corrector has been visually inspected and photographed. The unit is in used condition with cosmetic wear consistent with normal service life — the front panel shows light scuffing and handling marks typical of rack-mounted broadcast equipment. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it came out of a working broadcast or post-production environment where it was previously in use. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
