Applications
The djembe is a goblet-shaped hand drum originating from West Africa, traditionally carved from a single piece of hardwood and laced with a rope tuning system that allows the player to adjust tension and pitch. It produces a wide tonal range — a deep bass tone when struck in the center, a sharp slap at the rim, and an open tone in between — making it versatile for solo playing, drum circles, world music ensembles, and classroom or educational settings. The Meinl Headliner series targets beginner to intermediate players looking for an authentic rope-tuned instrument at an accessible price point. Rubber wood is a sustainably sourced tonewood widely used in percussion manufacturing, offering good resonance and durability.
This Meinl Headliner HE-DJ12 12" Djembe is a floor model from a closed music store — it was never sold to a retail customer. The drum is in excellent condition with no notable damage; it may have picked up a little dust from display but shows no real wear. Please note that the top head cover is not included with this drum — the drum itself and its rope tuning system are intact and present.
