Applications
X terminals connect to Unix servers and Sun workstations to provide remote display and input access across a network. These devices were common in enterprise and technical environments from the 1990s through early 2000s for centralized computing architectures. The ViewStation X supports X11 and connects to diskless X Window System environments.

This HDS Network Systems ViewStation X X terminal (BA-J270083-001) powers on and the 15-pin video port does send a signal. However, we were not able to display video on any of our monitors — the ViewStation X uses a proprietary sync format that is not compatible with standard modern displays, so this is expected behavior for this type of X terminal rather than an indication of a fault. The unit has been inspected and appears to be in good physical condition overall. It was pulled from a working environment. Cosmetically, the beige case shows typical age-related discoloration and light surface wear consistent with normal use. All rear ports are present and appear intact.
