Applications
The Hayes Accura 144+Fax line was among the most widely deployed internal modems of the early-to-mid 1990s DOS and Windows 3.x era, when Hayes was the dominant name in PC dial-up communications and the "AT command set" it pioneered became the de facto industry standard for modem control. This 8-bit ISA form factor made the card compatible with a broad range of IBM PC/XT/AT and 386/486-class machines — virtually any ISA-equipped desktop of the period. At 14.4 Kbps it represented the mainstream performance tier of its day, used for BBS access, early internet dial-up via CompuServe or AOL, and PC-based faxing before broadband made these cards obsolete. Today, Hayes ISA modems are sought by vintage PC enthusiasts and retro computing hobbyists restoring period-correct machines, as well as by those maintaining legacy industrial or embedded systems that still rely on dial-up connectivity or POTS-based fax.
This Hayes Accura 144+Fax 5302AM 8-bit ISA modem has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use and functional. The PCB is clean with no obvious damage, broken traces, or missing components. The RJ-11 ports and bracket appear intact. Normal light wear consistent with prior installation is present.
