Description
Haake F 4391 Recirculating Water Bath Chiller Heater 13°F–212°F 1 Gal
The Haake F 4391 is a benchtop recirculating water bath combining a refrigeration (chilling) unit and an electric heater in a single compact housing. It circulates temperature-controlled fluid through an internal tank and can supply cooled or heated fluid to external equipment via the circulation ports. This unit has been tested: the cooling side reached 13°F and the heater side reached 212°F.

Applications
Recirculating water baths like the Haake F 4391 are standard equipment in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical, and materials research labs. They maintain a stable fluid temperature and pump that fluid through external equipment — such as jacketed reaction vessels, viscometers, rotary evaporator condensers, titration cells, and sample temperature-control baths — to hold a precise temperature during experiments. The combined chiller-heater design covers both sub-ambient cooling and above-ambient heating from a single unit, which is useful when a process needs to be cooled down as well as heated up without switching equipment. Haake (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific) produced this style of recirculating bath primarily from the 1970s through the 1990s, and units like the F 4391 remain in use in legacy lab setups and teaching labs that need a reliable, simple temperature-control solution.
This Haake F 4391 Recirculating Water Bath has been tested and is in working condition. The cooling (AC refrigeration) side has no temperature control — it runs as an on/off system — and was tested down to 13°F. The heater side was tested to 212°F and has a dial control (0–10 scale). The tank holds approximately one gallon and requires 104 oz. of fluid to cover the heat exchangers. The 4×4.25-inch tank access cover is intact. The stainless steel lid shows surface rust spots and some staining typical of a used water bath, visible in the photos. The unit includes the attached circulation hose and a Taylor dial thermometer mounted on the tank lid. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
