The Global Solar 22042B is a 42-watt portable foldable solar panel built around CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) thin-film photovoltaic cells laminated to a tough rip-stop nylon substrate with an ETFE protective encapsulation layer. This unit is new old stock (NOS) from 2014 conditioned storage. These panels are manufacturer seconds and may show minor cosmetic artifacts from production or years of storage. Important: Our in-house testing has confirmed these panels output approximately 50% of their rated 42W capacity; sun-soaking the CIGS cells for several days did not improve performance. Buyers should account for this confirmed output degradation before purchasing.
Global Solar developed the P3 Portable Power Pack series originally as a lightweight 12V/24V battery charger for the US military and the P3 carries MIL-STD-810E compliance. The panel is unregulated and intended for direct battery charging — open-circuit voltage at 0°C can reach 65V, so an appropriate charge controller should be used with battery systems.
