Description
G&H Technology BFT 1011 Fiber Optic Cleave Tool Cleaver w/ Case & Manual
The G&H Technology BFT 1011 is a precision fiber optic cleave tool designed for scoring and cleaving optical fiber to produce clean, low-angle end-faces required for low-loss splices and connector terminations. The tool uses a controlled scribing and tension-break mechanism to cleave single-mode and multimode fiber with repeatable results. It is a U.S. patented design (Pat. 4,530,452 and 4,627,561) made by G&H Technology, Inc. of Camarillo, California.

Applications
Fiber optic cleave tools like the BFT 1011 are used to prepare optical fiber ends prior to fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, or connector installation. A clean, low-angle cleave is critical to achieving low insertion loss at fiber joints, and precision mechanical cleavers like this one are standard tools in telecommunications, cable TV (CATV), data center fiber infrastructure, military/aerospace fiber networks, and laboratory fiber optics work. The BFT 1011 dates from the 1980s-era of early commercial fiber optics deployment — the period when single-mode fiber was becoming the standard for long-haul telecom and tools like this were developed to bring repeatable shop-quality cleaves into the field. While more modern automated cleavers have replaced tools of this type in high-volume production environments, mechanical cleavers remain in use for field repair, legacy fiber maintenance, low-volume splicing work, and educational/training applications.
This G&H Technology BFT 1011 Fiber Optic Cleave Tool has been inspected and is in good used condition. The tool shows normal wear consistent with field use — the black body has minor scuffs and handling marks, but all mechanical components including the clamping arms, tension wheel, and blade assembly appear intact and complete. The unit comes in its original black hard-shell carry case with red foam insert, which is in good shape with no broken latches or significant damage. The original G&H Technology user manual is included and is in readable condition with normal shelf wear. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
