Applications
Enhancement units like the CA04085-C103 were common in the late 1990s and early 2000s Lifebook product line, when modular expansion bases allowed business users and mobile professionals to expand their portable computers into full desktop workstations. These units typically provided additional I/O connectivity (serial, parallel, USB ports), audio, and optionally integrated floppy and CD drives. Today, used Lifebook enhancement bases are sought after by users maintaining legacy Lifebook systems, restoring equipment from that era, or building compatible vintage computing setups. The modular design allowed users to configure their dock to their specific needs — this base unit comes without the drive modules, so buyers can either use it as a connectivity-only dock or source and install compatible drive modules separately.
This Fujitsu CA04085-C103 Lifebook Enhancement Unit is a base module that was pulled from a working environment and has been visually inspected. It is the core docking/expansion base without the integrated CD or floppy drive modules. The unit shows typical cosmetic wear from use. All photos should be reviewed carefully before purchase.
