Description
Fastcomm F9200-SS-FNE1-A1000 EtherFRAD Ethernet FRAD Network Terminal w/ Manual
The Fastcomm EtherFRAD F9200-SS-FNE1-A1000 is a desktop Ethernet Frame Relay Access Device (FRAD) designed to connect Ethernet local area networks to Frame Relay wide area network services. It bridges LAN traffic across a Frame Relay WAN, translating between Ethernet and Frame Relay protocols at the network edge. Fastcomm Communications, based in Sterling, Virginia, produced the EtherFRAD line for enterprise and carrier-edge WAN connectivity.

Applications
Frame Relay Access Devices like the Fastcomm EtherFRAD were deployed at the customer premises edge of Frame Relay WAN networks, connecting Ethernet LANs to carrier-provided Frame Relay circuits during the 1990s and early 2000s. Frame Relay was a dominant enterprise WAN technology in that era, widely used for connecting branch offices, remote sites, and corporate campuses before MPLS and broadband VPN services became the standard. The EtherFRAD allowed organizations to place standard Ethernet equipment on their LAN side while terminating a Frame Relay virtual circuit on the WAN side — eliminating the need for a dedicated router with Frame Relay support at every site. These units were common in multi-site enterprise networks, Internet service provider edge connections, and telco central office environments. Today, EtherFRAD units are sought by network engineers maintaining legacy Frame Relay infrastructure, by collectors of 1990s WAN equipment, and for lab and educational use in studying packet-switched WAN technologies.
This Fastcomm F9200-SS-FNE1-A1000 EtherFRAD Ethernet FRAD is in open-box, new condition. The unit appears unused and comes with its manual, AC power adapter, RJ flat cable, and two DB15 adapters, all visible in the photos. The original Fastcomm shipping box is present. The item has not been used and shows no signs of wear. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
