The Everex EV-815 is a Micro Channel Architecture (MCA) tape controller card designed for use in IBM PS/2 and compatible systems equipped with the MCA bus. Applications
The EV-815 was designed for IBM PS/2 computers and other systems using IBM's proprietary Micro Channel Architecture bus, introduced in the late 1980s. MCA replaced the older ISA bus in IBM's PS/2 line and offered bus mastering and improved data throughput. Tape controller cards like the EV-815 were used to connect QIC or other tape backup drives to PS/2 workstations and servers for data backup and archival purposes. This card is relevant today for legacy PS/2 system maintenance, retrocomputing projects, and restoration of period-correct IBM PS/2 configurations.

This Everex EV-815 MCA Tape Controller Card (PWA-00246) has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB is clean with no visible cracked traces, burnt components, or physical damage. The MCA edge connector gold fingers are intact and show normal oxidation consistent with prior installation. The external 50-pin D-sub tape interface connector is present and in good shape. Minor surface dust and light handling marks are visible on the board, consistent with normal prior use.
