Description
Eppendorf 5415B Brinkmann Microcentrifuge 14,000 RPM 16,000xg Variable Speed
The Eppendorf 5415B is a compact benchtop microcentrifuge capable of reaching a maximum speed of 14,000 RPM and a relative centrifugal force (RCF) of 16,000 x g. It features a variable speed control dial, a separate timer dial, and a green power indicator on the front panel. Marketed and distributed in the United States as the Brinkmann Centrifuge 5415C, this unit was manufactured in 1991 at Eppendorf-Netheler-Hinz GmbH in Hamburg, Germany. Note: the rotor cap is missing and will need to be replaced before use.

Applications
The Eppendorf 5415 series is one of the most widely used microcentrifuges in molecular biology, biochemistry, and clinical laboratory settings. These compact benchtop centrifuges are designed to spin standard 1.5 mL and 2.0 mL microtubes (Eppendorf tubes), and are used routinely for pelleting cells and bacteria, precipitating proteins and nucleic acids, quick-spin clarification of lysates, and separating phases in standard extraction protocols such as phenol-chloroform DNA purification. The 5415 series was introduced in the 1980s and became a staple instrument in research labs throughout the 1990s; the 5415B/5415C variant, manufactured from the late 1980s through the early 1990s, is an analog-controlled version with a separate speed dial and timer. Many labs still operate 5415-series centrifuges today due to their straightforward mechanical simplicity and durable construction. Brinkmann Instruments served as Eppendorf's exclusive US distribution partner for decades, so US-sourced units often carry both the Eppendorf and Brinkmann model designations.
This Eppendorf 5415B Microcentrifuge (Brinkmann Centrifuge 5415C) has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition for its age. The housing shows the cream-to-yellow discoloration typical of early-1990s laboratory plastics, with general surface yellowing throughout. The rotor is installed and present; however, the rotor cap is missing and will need to be sourced separately before running samples. The front control panel knobs and lid latch mechanism appear intact. Please review our photos carefully for a full picture of cosmetic condition, and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
