Description
Edwards E2M12 Two Stage Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump GE 0.75HP 115/230V Foreline Trap
The Edwards E2M12 is a two-stage rotary vane mechanical vacuum pump manufactured by Edwards High Vacuum (a division of BOC Ltd.), made in England. It is driven by a General Electric 5KC47SG1560T single-phase motor rated at 0.75 HP and is capable of operating on either 115V or 230V supply. An Edwards foreline trap is mounted inline on the pump's inlet side and is included with this unit.

Applications
The Edwards E2M series rotary vane vacuum pumps are widely used as roughing pumps and backing pumps across laboratory, scientific, and industrial environments. The E2M12 is a common choice in research labs, semiconductor fabrication, thin-film deposition (PVD/CVD), freeze drying, leak detection systems, and analytical instrumentation such as mass spectrometers and gas chromatographs. Two-stage rotary vane pumps achieve lower ultimate vacuum levels than single-stage designs, making them well-suited for applications requiring deeper rough vacuum in the range of 10⁻³ to 10⁻⁴ mbar. The Edwards E2M series was a long-running product line from Edwards High Vacuum (later BOC Edwards, now part of Atlas Copco) and has been a standard workhorse pump in scientific and industrial settings since the mid-twentieth century. The foreline trap included with this unit helps prevent oil backstreaming from the pump into the vacuum system, which is particularly important in clean or analytical applications.
This Edwards E2M12 two-stage rotary vane vacuum pump has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility. The unit shows typical wear for used lab equipment: the GE motor housing has surface corrosion on the end cap and capacitor cover, and the Edwards foreline trap shows external oxidation and discoloration on its aluminum body. The pump body and red Edwards badge are intact. Please review all photos carefully, and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
