Description

Edmund Optics 6 Inch Precision Parabolic Mirror with Adjustable Mount Optical Lab

This Edmund Optics 6-inch precision parabolic mirror is mounted in a sturdy black powder-coated sheet-metal enclosure with an adjustable tilt mechanism. Parabolic mirrors reflect and focus or collimate light without the chromatic aberration introduced by refractive lenses, making them well-suited for broadband and multi-wavelength optical work. The mirror is held securely in the mount by three retaining clips and the tilt angle is set via thumbscrew adjusters on the rear panel.

Specifications & What's Included

  • Brand: Edmund Optics
  • Mirror type: Precision parabolic
  • Mirror diameter: 6 inches (approx. 152 mm)
  • Mirror surface: Reflective, appears undamaged in photos
  • Mount: Black powder-coated sheet-metal enclosure, freestanding
  • Mount adjustment: Three rear-mounted thumbscrews for tilt adjustment
  • Retaining clips: Three clips securing mirror in mount
  • Mount orientation: Vertical, open-sided U-channel base for stability
  • Includes: Parabolic mirror seated in adjustable metal mount

Applications

Parabolic mirrors are a standard component in optical benches and laboratory setups where achromatic (wavelength-independent) focusing or collimation is needed. Because a parabolic reflector brings all on-axis rays to a single focal point regardless of wavelength, they are commonly used in spectroscopy, laser beam conditioning, infrared and UV optical systems, solar simulators, and imaging setups where refractive optics would introduce unwanted dispersion. Edmund Optics has been a major supplier of precision optical components to research labs, universities, defense contractors, and industrial optical system integrators for decades. A 6-inch aperture mirror of this type is large enough for bench-scale experiments requiring significant light-gathering or collimating capability, and the included adjustable mount allows quick alignment without additional hardware.

Condition: Used
This Edmund Optics 6-inch Precision Parabolic Mirror with Mount has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The mirror surface shows no obvious chips or significant damage visible in the photos. The black powder-coated sheet-metal mount is intact with all three adjustment screws present and the retaining clips in place. Normal handling marks and light surface wear consistent with lab use may be present. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
