DigiBoard Digi 8-Port RJ-45 Connector Box DB-78 Serial Multiport Adapter
This is a DigiBoard (DigiBoard Incorporated) 8-port RJ-45 serial connector box, designed to interface a DigiBoard multiport serial card with up to eight RS-232 serial devices via RJ-45 patch cables. The box connects to the host card through a 78-pin D-sub (DB-78) connector on one end, and breaks out to eight individually labeled RJ-45 ports (P1–P8) on the two side faces of the enclosure.

Applications
DigiBoard multiport serial adapter cards were widely used in the 1990s and early 2000s to add large numbers of RS-232 serial ports to a PC server or workstation — commonly for connecting terminals, modems, serial printers, barcode scanners, point-of-sale devices, and industrial automation equipment. This breakout box is the external companion to a DigiBoard host card (such as the PC/8 or similar 8-port async card): the card installs in the PC, and this box connects via the DB-78 cable to bring the eight serial ports out to accessible RJ-45 jacks. DigiBoard was later acquired by Digi International, which continues to make multiport serial products today. This connector box remains useful for legacy DigiBoard serial installations still in service, or as a replacement part for an existing DigiBoard multiport setup.
This DigiBoard Digi 8-Port RJ-45 Serial Connector Box has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The black metal enclosure shows some light surface scuffs and handling marks consistent with prior use, but the RJ-45 ports and DB-78 connector appear intact with no visible damage to the contacts.
