The Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 is a mid-1990s PCI graphics card built around the S3 ViRGE (86C988) chipset -- one of the first consumer chips to integrate 2D and 3D acceleration on a single die. Manufactured by Diamond Multimedia Systems, it targets the Windows 95/98 era desktop market and carries 2MB of on-board video memory with a standard HD-15 VGA output. The S3 ViRGE chipset family, introduced in 1995-1996, was S3 Graphics' first integrated 2D/3D accelerator and one of the most widely shipped graphics controllers of the Windows 95 generation. The Stealth 3D 3000 was a mainstream retail card targeting home and business desktop upgrades at a time when hardware-accelerated 3D was just becoming common in consumer PCs. It supports Direct3D and proprietary S3d acceleration under Windows 95 and 98, and its 2D performance is solid for office, multimedia, and light gaming use in period-correct builds. This Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 S3 ViRGE PCI video card has been tested on our Windows XP test bed and confirmed to be in good working condition. The PCB is clean with no visible damage; the gold PCI edge connector shows normal age-related oxidation typical of mid-1990s cards. The VGA output bracket is straight and undamaged.
