The Dell PowerEdge 2850 is a mid-2000s generation dual-processor 2U server from Dell's enterprise PowerEdge line. It is based on the Intel E7520/E7525 chipset and supports Intel Xeon processors in the 604-pin socket, placing it in the Nocona/Irwindale era of Intel's 32/64-bit server platforms. In its time, the PowerEdge 2850 was commonly deployed as a file server, web server, database back-end, or virtualization host in small-to-medium business and enterprise datacenter environments. Today these units are frequently used for home lab setups, legacy application hosting, network-attached storage builds (with drives added), and IT education or training environments where the cost of entry-level server hardware matters. The 2850 supports Windows Server 2003/2008 and various Linux distributions, and spare parts — processors, RAM, backplanes, and PSUs — remain widely available in the used market.
This Dell PowerEdge 2850 2U Rackmount Server has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was actively in use. The chassis shows typical rack wear — light scuffing on the top cover and side panels consistent with datacenter service. The front faceplate is missing, the hard drive bays are empty, and no drive caddies are included. The dual redundant power supplies are present and the rear I/O panel, including both Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB ports, and serial/VGA connectors, appear intact.
