Applications
The PowerEdge 1850 was introduced by Dell in the mid-2000s as part of their mainstream 1U server lineup targeting the Intel Xeon 604-socket era. It was widely deployed in corporate data centers, web hosting environments, and university computing labs running Windows Server 2003/2008 and Red Hat/CentOS Linux. The 1U form factor made it a popular choice where rack space was at a premium. Today, units like this are commonly used for legacy application support, network-attached storage builds, PXE boot servers, virtualization labs (Proxmox, ESXi), and low-cost homelab or test bench setups. The SCSI storage subsystem and dual-CPU configuration are well-suited to I/O-intensive workloads typical of that era.
This Dell PowerEdge 1850 1U Rackmount Server has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in active use. It has been visually inspected and photographed with the chassis open, showing the dual Xeon processor heatsinks, populated DDR2 ECC memory slots, and installed SCSI drives all appearing intact and undamaged. The exterior shows typical wear consistent with rack-mounted data center use, including minor scuffing on the top and side panels. It has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
