Applications
The Western Digital Caviar series was among the most widely deployed IDE desktop hard drives of the mid-to-late 1990s, used in consumer and business PCs built around Pentium and Pentium II-era platforms. The 4.3 GB capacity was a common standard size that fit within the 4.2 GB BIOS addressing limit of older systems without requiring overlay software or large-disk support, making it straightforward to use as a primary or secondary drive in systems of that period. This particular unit was sourced from Dell desktop systems (DP/N 00011535) and is suited for restoration of period-correct Dell Dimension, OptiPlex, or compatible machines, as well as retro computing projects requiring a reliable late-1990s IDE drive. The IDE interface was the dominant desktop storage standard from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s before SATA took over.
This Western Digital Caviar 24300 AC24300-75LC 4.3GB 3.5" IDE hard drive has been tested, formatted, and wiped, and is in good working condition. All previous data has been securely erased. The drive shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with previous use — the label and housing are intact with minor surface scuffs. The 40-pin IDE connector and 4-pin power connector both appear in good condition. Please review our photos and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
