The Western Digital Caviar WD300 is a 30GB 3.5-inch Enhanced IDE (PATA) desktop hard drive from Western Digital's long-running Caviar product line. This drive uses the standard 40-pin IDE/PATA interface and fits the full-height 3.5-inch drive bay found in virtually all desktop PCs of the era. It carries Dell part number 00X438 and was originally supplied in Dell desktop systems.

Applications
The Western Digital Caviar line was one of the most common desktop hard drive families of the late 1990s and early 2000s, shipped as original equipment in a wide range of Dell Dimension, OptiPlex, and Precision desktop systems, as well as countless other PC brands of the period. PATA/IDE drives like this one are still sought after for restoring or maintaining period-correct desktop computers, vintage PC builds, older workstations, and legacy industrial or embedded systems that require a parallel ATA drive. The 40-pin IDE interface was the standard desktop storage connection from the mid-1980s through the mid-2000s before SATA took over, making these drives compatible with any system equipped with an IDE controller — including many older CNC machines, test equipment, and embedded controllers that do not support SATA.
This Western Digital Caviar WD300 30GB IDE hard drive has been tested, wiped, and formatted at our facility and is in good working condition — it boots directly to a waiting C:/ prompt.
