Description
DCA IRMA 3 IRMA III 005026 ISA Token Ring Network Card Rev B VGT 7811-6084
The DCA IRMA III is an ISA bus Token Ring network adapter card produced by DCA Inc. in the late 1980s. Part number 005026 Rev B, it is built around DCA's proprietary VGT 7811-6084 controller chip and provides a Token Ring network interface for IBM-compatible PC systems equipped with an ISA expansion slot. The bracket features both a BNC connector and an RJ45 port for Token Ring cabling connectivity.

Applications
DCA's IRMA product line was a well-known family of network adapter and terminal emulation cards produced through the 1980s and into the early 1990s, primarily targeting IBM PC-compatible workstations that needed to connect to IBM Token Ring networks or mainframe/midrange systems. Token Ring was IBM's proprietary LAN standard, operating at 4 Mbps or 16 Mbps, and was widely deployed in corporate data centers, banking, government, and manufacturing environments during the late 1980s and early 1990s as a direct competitor to Ethernet. IRMA cards like this one allowed ISA-bus PCs to join Token Ring rings and, in many configurations, enabled 3270/5250 terminal emulation for host connectivity to IBM mainframes and AS/400 systems. This card dates from approximately 1988–1991 based on the DCA controller copyright date and chip date codes visible on the board. Token Ring has been superseded by Fast and Gigabit Ethernet in virtually all environments, making cards like this primarily sought by collectors, legacy system maintainers, and industrial or process-control sites still running original Token Ring infrastructure.
This DCA IRMA III ISA Token Ring network card (P/N 005026, Rev B) has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB is clean with no visible damage, broken traces, or missing components. The bracket connectors — BNC and RJ45 — appear intact. Normal light handling marks are present consistent with prior installation in a PC. Please review our photos and contact us with any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
