Applications

Data General was a major minicomputer manufacturer from the late 1960s through the 1990s, competing alongside Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and other vendors of the era. The D-412 and D-412+ were video display terminals used with Data General's Eclipse and MV/AOS minicomputer systems — workhorses of business and scientific computing through the 1980s. The 6348-A keyboard was the standard input device for those terminals, using a proprietary DIN interface rather than the PS/2 or AT connectors that became common later. Today these keyboards are sought by collectors of vintage Data General hardware, operators of legacy systems still running original DG software, and hobbyists maintaining period-accurate terminal setups.

Condition: Used
This Data General 6348-A Terminal Keyboard has been inspected and is in used condition. The keyboard shows noticeable yellowing of the beige plastic housing, which is typical aging for equipment of this era. One keycap is missing, leaving the mechanical switch stem exposed — visible in the photos. The coiled DIN cable and 8-pin connector appear intact and undamaged. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
