CTI Cryogenics Compressor Adsorber Cryopump Helium Purifier Molecular Sieve
This CTI Cryogenics compressor adsorber is a molecular sieve canister used in helium recirculation systems for cryopump compressors. It connects between the compressor and the cryopump to trap and remove hydrocarbon and moisture contaminants from the helium gas stream, keeping the compressor oil and working gas clean. The cylindrical steel body is finished in CTI's characteristic blue paint, with a large flanged connection on one end for the cryopump interface and two threaded gas-line ports (fitted with knurled aluminum caps) on the body.

Applications
CTI Cryogenics compressor adsorbers are a standard maintenance and purification component in cryopump helium recirculation systems, most commonly found in semiconductor fabrication, thin-film deposition (sputtering and evaporation), ion implantation, and vacuum research environments. The adsorber sits inline in the helium gas loop between the compressor and the cryopump cold head, using a zeolite molecular sieve bed to trap compressor oil vapors and moisture before they reach the cold head and degrade pump performance. CTI Cryogenics (now part of Brooks Automation, later Azenta Life Sciences) produced these adsorbers for use with their well-known On-Board and standard compressor lines, including the 8200, 8300, and 9600 series. Periodic replacement of the adsorber canister — or regeneration of the molecular sieve bed — is standard preventive maintenance for cryopump systems to maintain ultimate vacuum performance. These components remain in active use wherever legacy CTI cryopump compressor systems are still operating in semiconductor and vacuum tool facilities.
This CTI Cryogenics Compressor Adsorber has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The blue painted steel body shows typical handling wear consistent with prior service use. Both threaded port fittings are intact and the knurled aluminum caps are present and thread on properly. The flanged cryopump connection flange looks clean with no obvious damage.
