Description
Cotronics 390-43 Ultra-Temp 390 Ceramic Tape 1/16" x 3" x 50' 2500°F
The Cotronics Ultra-Temp 390 is a flexible, asbestos-free ceramic tape made from aluminum oxide fibers. Cat. No. 390-43 measures 1/16" thick by 3" wide by 50 feet long. It is rated for continuous use at temperatures up to 2300°F and can handle excursions up to 2500°F. Unlike older asbestos-based products that were limited to around 1200°F, this aluminum oxide tape handles significantly higher temperatures while remaining safe and easy to work with — it can be cut with ordinary scissors and formed into complex shapes.

Applications
Cotronics Ultra-Temp 390 ceramic tape is widely used as a high-temperature insulation and sealing material in furnaces, kilns, ovens, and industrial heating equipment. It serves as a drop-in replacement for asbestos-based insulating tapes, which were phased out due to health regulations — aluminum oxide ceramic tape handles far higher temperatures with none of the associated hazards. Common applications include wrapping and insulating heating elements and thermocouples, sealing furnace door gaps and expansion joints, providing electrical insulation in high-temperature environments, and serving as a backing or gasket material in industrial heating systems. Its flexibility and scissor-cuttability make it well suited to irregular shapes and field installation. The material is also used in aerospace, glass, and semiconductor processing environments where high dielectric strength and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures are required. Cotronics Corporation, based in Brooklyn, NY, has been producing specialty high-temperature materials since the early 1970s, and the Ultra-Temp 390 series has been a staple product for industrial maintenance and engineering applications.
This Cotronics Ultra-Temp 390 ceramic tape (Cat. No. 390-43) is new and unused, though it is being sold as open box. It is new from the manufacturer but may have been stored for an extended period and/or is no longer in its original retail packaging. The tape itself appears clean and intact with no signs of damage.
