Description
Corning PC-35 Laboratory Hot Plate 120V 600W Pyroceram Glass-Ceramic 7x6
The Corning PC-35 is a benchtop laboratory hot plate built around a 7 x 6 inch Pyroceram glass-ceramic heating surface. Pyroceram is a thermally stable, chemically resistant glass-ceramic material developed by Corning Glass Works that tolerates rapid temperature cycling and resists chemical spills — making it a long-standing choice for laboratory heating applications. The PC-35 runs on 120 VAC at 600 watts and is controlled by a simple rotary dial calibrated from OFF through setting 6, with an 80°C reference mark and a nominal temperature range of 100–510°C. A pilot light on the front panel indicates when the heater is active.

Applications
The Corning PC-35 is a classic benchtop hot plate designed for general laboratory heating tasks including sample digestion, solvent heating, solution preparation, and maintaining elevated temperatures for chemical or biological processes. Pyroceram-surface hot plates like the PC-35 are standard equipment in chemistry, biology, geology, and materials science labs, valued for their chemically resistant surface that withstands spills from acids, bases, and organic solvents. This model was produced by Corning Glass Works — the same company responsible for developing Pyroceram and Pyrex — and dates from the mid-to-late twentieth century era when analog dial-controlled benchtop hot plates were the workhorses of the research lab. These units remain in active use today for general heating wherever a stirrer is not required, and are commonly found in university, industrial QC, and field lab settings. The caution label specifies maximum dial settings for sand bath use, reflecting its suitability for indirect as well as direct heating applications.
This Corning PC-35 Laboratory Hot Plate has been inspected and is in used working condition. The Pyroceram glass-ceramic heating surface shows heavy staining and white residue deposits from prior laboratory use, as clearly visible in the photos. The dark gray metal housing shows light scuffs and there is a handwritten marking on the front panel. The temperature dial turns freely through all settings. The power cord is intact. It was pulled from a working lab environment. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions.
